Well, I told you I was busy! Two and a half weeks since my last blog post! My major achievement this week has been still having an Easter egg and a half left over (if I was writing this an hour ago, it would half been an Easter egg and three-quarters ๐)
The edits I mentioned last time are still on-going. I managed to complete one of the two perspectives in the novel – the messiest one. The next section occurs in quite a neat chronological order, so I’m hoping it will be a lot more simple.
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve also been back to teaching some exercise classes. We’re not allowed indoor workout classes until the middle of May, so we’ve been in the gym car park. Let me just say, a car park at 5pm on the south Cornish almost-coast with a biting northerly wind is quite an interesting place to teach. And yet everyone stayed, most had a smile on their faces by the end (or possibly it was frozen there) and they turned up again on Friday morning.
We did not look this serene! But we had fun… yeah, until the fire at the local recycling centre began and the fumes were pushed across by that northerly wind!
Tomorrow I return to work properly, and I can’t wait to see all the regular clients returning, or for my first workout in the gym in over three months. I just want to lift heavy weights again!
In other news, I received the galley proofs of Small Forgotten Moments. This is the stage where the text is scrutinised for those tiny errors which have been missed in all the previous reads. And believe me, those typos hide themselves really well! And I’ve got a list of tasks to complete to make the launch in August go smoothly. It’s the downhill stretch and I’m so excited!
Cool you got the proof! Be happy to help with the launch.
I am so grateful our gyms have been open for almost a year now.

That would be fantastic, Alex – thanks for the offer!
Between our first lockdown in March 2020 and now, my gym has only been open for 9 weeks. That’s a lot of fitness and muscle lost – but I’m the instructor who’ll bring it all back for them ๐

I had my first shift this morning, and my first workout straight afterwards – it felt so good to be lifting challenging weights again!

Hi Annalisa – well done for encouraging all to stick out the cold wind – it has been pretty chilly to put it mildly. So pleased to hear that that part of life is returning to normal for you and your clients. All the best with the editing et al – and so pleased to see you’re on your happy slope! Cheers Hilary

I’m not sure if I could exercise in the cold, especially in the UK! I hope work went well.

๐ Some days have been more challenging than others, but it’s finally warming up. The evening class is especially nice – in full sunshine and with blossom on the trees beside us, which is delightful.
